I’m with some of the others that say it’s your baby. Did you remind the trucker that the door needed strapped before hauling home? If not, pay and move on. Never have strapped the door when hauling a tractor. Wouldn’t expect others to either. Only way he’s responsible if he was reminded before he left. My 2 cents.
