Subject: RE: Grain Leg Re-Galvanizing

SW Ohio
When I hauled structural steel we took quite a bit to the Galvanizer to get treated. They are not a common thing to have a big enough tub for large pieces, like there are only three or four in the whole state of Ohio. I asked once about cost as I had wanted some farm stuff treated, and the answer I got (in the early 2000's) was---take the cost of your steel by the pound and that is close to what they charge.

They make some cold galvanizing paint---have used the spray cans of rustoleum with good results and a gallon of Sherwin Williams $300 stuff that was complete waste of effort.

Something like a leg trunk with lots of surface area per pound will cost a great deal more that a thick plate, you will faint at the price of having it dipped.
