N.W. Illinois | We just had our first season running a Fusion F660X. We are very happy with this dryer. It made this harvest very enjoyable.
If anything MC underates the dryer's capacity, it easily exceeded MC's rated output and this was using a much much lower plenum temp than MC shows in their literature(240 degrees). Also MC rates capacity at 17% moisture discharge, I'm talking 15% discharge out of our dryer. We ran the dryer in heat and cool mode. Our dryer does have a plenum on the bottom module but I can't ever imagine us using it for heat and dumping hot.
Had 3 small hiccups in the first day or 2 and then it just cranked corn all Fall.
We replaced a SuperB SQ32 dryer. The 660X easily has 3-4 times the capacity of the SQ32 with just about the same amount of used hp. And the corn was coming out of the 660X 25-30 degrees cooler than the discharge temp of the SQ32 when it ran on heat-cool.
The SQ32 had just one 40 hp fan. The 660X has 4 fans totaling 50 hp. The 660X is gravity feed, no leveling auger, that eliminates a 7.5 hp motor that the SQ32 had. Startup is much easier, demand and service wise, with the smaller fan motors starting up in sequence. The dryer is very quiet.
The moisture controller was slow on bringing moisture up to what we wanted it to discharge at. I think part of this was because corn moisture averaged around 19-20% coming out of the field and the corn was going through the dryer so fast. Also I think we need to tighten up the parameters on the moisture controllers to limit its adjustments . We would normally start with much wetter corn but did a major grain setup upgrade and it took a couple of weeks longer getting it all done. | |
