I guarantee you my tight butt doesn't spend $1300 taking care of a cow each year.
If you barrow half of operating capital, renting pasture, running even modest payed for equipment you are getting darn close to 1300/ cow a year. Ask me how I know. If you would have told me 3O some years ago it would take this much money to operate I would have chosen differently on my career path. As it is we go on. We graze cornstalks as long as weather allows in fall. In past years I have hauled water till February to do it.
