We have a local starter/alternator rebuilder that does great work, family has been doing it for over 60 years. Lots of specialty work on early cars and trucks, stuff gets shipped in to them nationally. They complain about the decline in part quality for things like solenoids and brushes. Obviously it isn’t practical for a small rebuilder to make that type of stuff, so once the available repair part quality goes to pot, it essentially kills their industry.
