Don't need fancy transmissions to work with a turbine, even a stick shift manual would work. Turbines historically are inefficient and not clean burning (depending on fuel).
No, diesel fuel isn't going anywhere in our lifetimes unless there's the true miracle break through in price point and technology yet to be discovered.
