The earlier ones you are usually better off to bypass the factory system entirely. Somewhere mid 2005 they added a connector under the console to plug into to access the boom sections. I don’t know the first thing about the Deere system, I run Trimble. Being yours is serial 20 you probably don’t have the ICAN system to deal with which should make things easier, everything is 12 volt. Side note the early ones had frame issues and were supposed to be reinforced. I think the problem was right behind the cab, look for a fish plate or diamond shaped plate welded onto the frame.
