pure sine wave is always better that I know of. Better for the tools using it, and more efficient than modified sine wave.

If you need PSW or not is a different question. If you're most worried about efficiency, then they might still make cigarette plug in dewalt chargers, that would be most efficient than almost any inverter, then use the inverter just when you need bigger tools.

edit: if you're going to leave the truck running and an inverter on all the time anyway, then the efficiency doesn't matter. Efficiency only matters if you're charging off the vehicle battery with the truck off, and no other inverter running.
