I used to haul for a guy that used either an A or a B ( depending on what was around) John Deere to run his pullouts. It worked just fine on the regular flat pulley. We tied the auger off to the opposite side.
The A would twist the auger shaft off if the auger got bound up.
I have seen belt pulleys on tractors that were made for a V belt. I think they were used on some corn pickers.
