My Grandfather was born in 1890, died in 1976.  When I was young, I thought I would never see the changes my Grandfather saw.  Now, I realize I have seen greater changes in technology than he saw, but I probably won't see the the mechanical(?) changes he saw.  Unless I live to see the Star Track Teleporter (or was that Transporter?) become reality.
I now am old enough to share the smile he had when I asked him if he remembered the first airplane he saw.
