Near-north Ontario, French River | Pretty much everyone in Ontario calls hydro regardless of their proximity to hydro electric dams. This is likely due to the fact that the provincial utility is called HyroOne, yes its roots are in hydro-electric generation. The terms power lines/poles are common as well but say "hydro pole" and everyone will know what you are talking about,,, even in downtown Toronto. |
