About 345k bu of storage here right now. Mostly corn but some beans as well. We will be moving this to all corn for next year and have two other smaller sites that will hold what beans we can store.
We are planning to fix this leg and move it to a different site to handle beans.
With the difficulty getting help, and the cost of trucks and trailers we think this is going to help us be more efficient.
Our labor force gets split up in the fall with the harvest crew and the Poo hauling crew. If we can eliminate a truck on some of our acres we can greatly increase our productivity during the day when our part time help isn’t available. We have about a thousand acres within a mile or two of the site.
Thanks for the reply. Not faulting your logic on labor. Adding animals to the picture just adds to the labor management requirement. For our operation we require a minimum of 3 people to make corn harvest work well. Combine operator, cart operator and trucker who flips a pair of trucks back and forth and manages the dryer. |
