I was only two or three when we got electricity so I don't know for sure what the first thing was that the folks bought. I do remember when they wired the house. Dad said I kept running off with the electrition's tools. I faintly remember the old ice box but think a refrigerator was one of the first things the folks got. They also got a radio. Dad said that when they bought the refrigerator the store had a radio that someone bought but couldn't get reception at their house and brought it back. The store sold it to the folks with the refrigerator for a couple of dollars. We got good reception.
