Subject: RE: When electricity came to the farm

100 miles north of the NYC crapper
I wish I had asked the question.
My grandparents were born 1898-1901 so I’m sure they witnessed it.
I assume that it was probably in the 1930s.
I couldn’t imagine the ordeal everyday life must have been.
No electric probably kept a lid on everything. Water for livestock being a limiting factor. There is a spring that never goes dry in the corner of the field behind the barn that was utilized but it wasn’t convenient to get to especially in winter or wet periods. Therewas remnants of a dug well in the front yard of the farm house.
Come to think of it there was (still is) a 1” pipe that supplied the entire farm buried under the road until about 1970 when it just couldn’t keep up anymore and another well was drilled.
I was always told that pipe was put in in the 30s.
Picture is about 1955
