I think it was 1951 when REA came to the ranch, I was 3 so don't remember about before that, but there was an old "light plant " in a shed by the shop. I don't remember it ever running.
Ranch was 30 miles from town and 4 miles from the Utah border, so getting electricity was a pretty big deal...
