WCIL | I've got a 2006 GMC 1500 2wd with 95k miles that I use as a daily driver around the farm. Occasionally I need to use it to move the fuel trailer or pull a 2 box seed tender. It has a pretty plush ride to it and therefore it also squats quite a bit when I put a load on it. I friend suggested putting timbrens on it to help with the occasional heavy load. After having those on since last spring I've decided to take them off. While they work good when loaded, I've found that when I'm empty I feel the rear end bottom out on them too much and effect the empty ride quality if the truck. Some other options I've looked at are air bags, helper springs (overload spring?) And new heavier leaf springs. Rock auto has hd leaf springs for that truck that aren't too bad price wise. While the air bags seem like a good option they would also require being aired up for the load and that's not always an option if I'm not near an air compressor. So I've kind of narrowed it down to either new leaf springs or extra springs. Can anyone comment on these two options as to how it helped with extra weight and how it rode when empty? | |
