Yes. We have been sued and had to pay for a trespasser hunting on our land. It happens.


Please explain the situation more thoroughly. There are specific laws in place that protect landowners from liability as long as the hunter wasn't paying for the privilege.


You would think.

This happened quite a few years back here in Florida. This was a local guy trespassing onto our land. I don’t remember all the details as I was younger and my dad has passed away since. I believe he climbed into a ladder stand that we had and it broke and he fell and had extensive injuries. The land was posted and he was trespassing. However, we were held liable for some reason and had to pay out from liability.

Edit for spelling.





He used "YOUR ladder stand", hence YOUR liability. You left a constructive nuisance available for use. I not saying I agree with this.
