To put it all in perspective, a commercial wind turbine on average produces 843,000 kWh of energy per month. Approximately 1.14 lbs of coal generates 1 kWh. So in just one month of operation those blades generated enough energy to equal 480 tons of coal. That's just one month! If the blades make it to just half of their expected lifetime at ten years that has offset almost 58,000 tons of coal.
480 tons of coal a month is just 19 loads. Local power plants receive several thousands of loads every week. There is 6 coal power plants within 75 miles of us. Just a different perspective. |
