They just keep building more and more expensive windmills, yet most of the time they are shut off. The grid can't use what is already needed and excess can't be stored. Yet they continue to add hundreds of them all over the place. What a waste of taxpayer subsidies to do this. Until they can store what is able to produce, these towers ar far from effecient sitting still %90 of the time.
I'm not accusing you of this, but there's some irony in that I've seen some of the same people who talk about needing energy storage for renewables be simultaneously opposed to such projects. Locally they're looking at doing a fairly modest installation in an industrial park right next to the asphalt plant and I kid you not people were complaining about how much of an eye-sore it'd be.
But you're right, economically they only stand to get better with the implementation of grid scale storage. In my opinion it's the next big step for renewables and I'd rather see the industry and subsidies shift gears to that than build more turbines. |
