
| Lately there was a piece of land that sold on auction for $26,000 and I started doing a little math on it.
Total acres vs tillable it was right at $27,000 per tillable, balance in road right of way, no income off of the non tillable.
Property taxes were about $35/acre.
IF the guy that bought it had 100% cash to pay for it he could have put the money in a CD earning ~5%.
New crop cash corn locally for next fall is $4.70
Do the math on that. It’s UGLY!!!! Need to raise 294 bpa to GROSS the same $’s as the CD. I was told it was bought by an investor from out of state. It is farmland, no development potential other than hogs, cattle, birds or dairy.
