At this inflation level, you about can’t save fast enough for a sizable DP or cash. That’s the real issue for younger farmers even more than the cost IMO. Land is such a usable/versatile, and truely valuable asset that it’s really never going to cash flow at the time, it’ll have to be realize in gain later on. But the recent run ups are just so quick that a young guy can’t save fast enough it seems (at least to me, and I may not be “young” anymore)



This mindset will get people into trouble. Ask anyone who bought a house before the crash or farmed in the 70’s. I completely understand that savers get punished in this environment, but when things flip it hurts.
