I don't think the fed can claim victory just yet. Every realtor I talk to says if interest rates drop the market will explode again as they have a ton of buyers waiting. I hear of similar thoughts in other industries. So the question is can the fed maintain these higher rates for a longer period (years) or will this cause a recession that in turn will have them lower rates and have inflation heat back up again. Any sign of pain and DC will be coming up with the next handout package to save us all. This fed probably learned a lot from Volker and the 70's but they weren't fighting DC back then like they are today. Also adjusted for how they measure it inflation actually was worse this go around so I struggle to believe the fire will be put out so quickly and painlessly.


Only time will settle this debate.
