I work with a couple guys that have their mind made up that ethanol blends burn enough hotter to blow head gaskets. One won’t burn any ethanol blend, the other only uses premium.
Lol, we haven't had a head gasket problem in a gas engine since the 80's and we run a lot of older stuff as well as a bit of new stuff.
We also have tons of Honda and honda knockoff single cyl engines that sit around 2/3 of the year, many outside, and we have almost no fuel related issues. Everything gets at least e10. But.....ethanol is bad.....if you are a bad mechanic and need a scapegoat.
Small engine guys are the worst. More likely the problems arise from someone leaving the gas cap off the mower, or leaving the weedeater and gas can out laying in the yard in the rain for two months.....but it is the ethanol's fault after the mechanic screws with the carb settings and then can't get it back right. |
