| Dad raised turkeys - breeders, we picked up the eggs, biggest barn was 900'x40' open on the south side. Feeders were similar to a hog feeder but without the covers/flappers, waters were a V about 8' long hung on the woven wire fence on the open side. In winter(mostly when they layed) we turned the water off just before dark, walked down and dumped each one, just the opposite in the morning.
Filled the feeders with tractor and auger wagon driving along the outside, one guy inside opening/closing each lid. Originally hand cranked the auger up and down for each feeder - thought we were rich when Dad got a tractor with remote hydraulics and a hyd cyl on the auger. |
