Subject: Been there, done that

Pittsburg, Kansas
Thanks for the memories! Wife and I did that for several years before we got family and employees trained. Grew turkeys for about 15 years till the farm got so big was more trouble that it was worth. Probably made more money from the litter on our crops than from growing the turkeys, LOL.

We were small potatos compared to your setup. Flock size nominal 11,000 at a time and three flocks on the farm at a time staggered in a three stage unit. We just had curtains and fans for vents. Looks like maybe you have tunnel ventilation?

Your drinkers are interesting. We had a couple different kinds over the years. Your look like they would work good.

I never minded it. Was kind of an interesting foray in our farming operation. The reason we got into it is had two small boys and could not rent gound and seen no opportunity to do so. So it was a way of expansion to make room for them should they decide to farm. Then we built the barns and got going and within a few years things opened up for us and rented multiple times our then current acres. So eventually decided to close it down when my Daughter and husband got tired of managing the barns and the company we were with wanted us to expand and upgrade barns to in and out or two stage = another big investment when the barns had been already paid off for several years. Decided to hang it up as we were plenty busy with crop farming by then.

I don't regret doing it. just a chapter in our life.
