| That's the conundrum with replacing Columbus Day with Indigenous People's Day. Columbus Day as it is and always has been is the most minor of minor holidays, only federal workers get it off. If you cancel Columbus Day and call it Indigenous People's Day, you of course automatically have to start honoring it as a full fledged holiday and everybody gets it off. That is my theory as to why the feds don't officially honor it, they get the day off anyway and if they actually did officially switch it the whole country would be demanded to stop on that day. | |
