southwestern illinois | what a great problem to have. this year i just sold it. but, years ago with high levels of motivation we put round bales in the shape of a 50x 100 tarp. put plastic down and stacked it high. when we were completed i nailed a bunch of lumber together for the long sides and had the tarp fastened into the lumber. yes, i had bunches of ratchet straps. we took the time to make it an even pile on top so the tarp would work great. when it was loaded up there was spoilage on the top (crust) however the pile was tall enough that it simply blended itself away when loading.
would i do it again>? probably not because i now have more storage that could be used. i bought an old grain elevator that went broke but its not convenient any longer.
good luck! i just considered my bounty a "bonus" and went on with life | |
