Subject: RE: Why Rake

Sioux County, NWIA
I’ve baled bean straw in every state from fully chopped to not chopped at all. Majority of it has some level of chop. Fully chopped is a bit fussier to rake up into a nice windrow, but the baler doesn’t care one bit. I would not recommend fully chopping bean straw if it is going to be dropped in a windrow. The resulting windrow will be so tight it won’t dry, and will be hard to rake if you want to rake it.
