NC Iowa | I try to do some each year behind combine. Cows will actually eat them pretty good, they hate raked bales. Has to be done a little later once corn is dryer, and takes a nice day. Most of the moisture left is in stalks, and not much gets into bale behind combine.
Using a 40' this year, works great. Leaves enough residue but only takes the nice stuff. Picture was from a very windy day, baler had to be close to combine. This corn was stressed early and only was 6' tall in areas. Still made 1.4 bales per acre.
