we have both

Wilson pros
-better internal and external ladders
-auto lift axles
-less bracing that catches on swing augers
-michaels add on electric traps/tarps are much better then factory timpte
Cons:
-flat shelf at rear
-hopper doesn't empty as completely
aluminum sides flex alot more, not sure what the long term effects will be of that on all the rivets

Timpte pros
-cleans out completely with no sweeping
-can adjust individual axle pressures to fine tune weights
-no flat shelf at rear
Cons:
-no option for auto lift axles and its illegal in manitoba to have a switch for it in cab
-factory hydraulic traps have alot of lag, no %open readout, and its easy to hit the wrong hopper open, has happened more then once in a rush
hopper opening is too wide to use to fill air drill auger
-hydraulic openers stick out a long way from side of trailer making it hard to get close enough to swing auger to not need to move semi a second time
-came with a bunch of factory finish blemishes and timpte has given zero ****s about it on a brand new trailer
-only half enough steps on the inside of hopper, and its really slippery inside which is what makes cleanout so good, but access sucks, need to be pretty spry to go inside it
-air control box is really annoying to get into, which you have to do twice every load because of no auto axle lift
-electric tarp blocks outside ladder access

I like the Wilson more then the timpte, but if you are just hauling into a pit and not an auger the timpte is fine. i would definitely not put the timpte hydraulic openers on it though, Michaels is the way to go. I prefer the castleton steel trailer over both of them though

Just a couple questions, are both trailers the same length? Our 43' Wilson's and timpte have no shelf at the back? How can you say the hydraulic openers stick out, there is nothing to stick out? I am not impressed with the 'lag' on the timpte hydraulic either but someone will come along and say that's a dumb problem or opinion
