Northeast Indiana | I live in Indiana where 3-4 organic matter is considered pretty darn good dirt. Some of those lower corn yields we'd be disappointed with. I'm sure there is a lot of ground in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and south Dakota where 200bu corn is a disappointment as well. In our area, while 250+ corn year in and year out is very attainable, it requires a good amount of inputs and management to get there. You can't just throw seed in the ground and 150lbs of nitrogen and get those yields. So if you're managing for 250bu corn or more, 200bu corn is definitely a disappointment and a little harder to swallow! | |
