SW WI | Generally speaking..yes, I think they need to be dryer than going into rounds. The last couple years have been good for making squares for me. But there have been times that I’ve had heated bales and not slices…and chunks to try to bed with.
In my barns I put into the pen with skid steer, cut twine and roll a portion of the bale here or there. There’s always the option of kicking cattle out of the pen and using skid steer to push bale, after cut, where needed.
Your bed pack….or lack thereof, will tell you if you can drive around in your pen with a skid steer.
I realize some guy’s interpretation of a bed pack is different than mine.
Pens, barns or just lots…..seems everyone has something that’s specific to them. Squares work well for me but I realize not for everyone. | |
