We still do some heavy tillage also so not trying to be a dink here but the cause of the problem might be what you think the cure is. Ever take a hedgerow out in soil like that? We have and it’s completely different than the field it’s in, it’s so fluffy and mellow. Makes ya wonder what we’re doing wrong to make the soil so tight. Which is why we’ve taken some acres of heavy soil and do less tillage and more cover crops. It takes a while to see improvement but eventually it’ll happen. That’s why we do a little at a time bc it can be challenging, but it’s a lifelong journey.
