Interesting topic.  I'm not an expert but like and kind is pretty loose terminology typically.  I know a guy that sold a feedyard and some farm ground and bought apartment buildings on a 1031 exchange.  Your CPA may have mislead you as to what the rules are.  Not sure if livestock could be traded on a 1031??  I'm interested.
