I’m on the search for a tractor to run my 64 row air seeder. I’ve looked at case 9x70 tractors, blue versatile 9682s, and deere 8960 and 8970s. I basically am aiming for something with a Cummins. I found a decent looking 8970 with decent tires and 8k hours. I’m told the 70 series has some nice upgrades over the 60 series.

8970 had a goofy fuel pump that was half Deere and half Cummins. I have been told they are obsolete and no one can work on them. Most have been converted to the basic old PT pump by now. Just something to look at.

Pulled my new to me 70 opener hoe drill with our 450+ HP Kinze repowered 8850 this year. Did fine for power if I shifted to A3 on the hills, but is a little light on traction at 50K pounds. Also, it seems extremely thirsty for what it is. Uses significantly more GPH than our 450 HP 9520T.

Thinking I need to be in the 60K pound range to pull this drill well, but not having much luck finding a 60K pound tractor in my budget that isn't on steel tracks...
