If someone is in fact rebuilding a tractor or a combine, how much room do you really need? I am not critical of a shop, just that there are a lot of monuments that are not used to really generate money for the operation, or at least the size needed for what somebody is actually doing day in and day out. A moderate shop has went from 250000 to 500000,and in a lot of cases, these castles are closer to 7 figures. There are operations that actually keep 4 or 5 guys busy all winter or trucking or livestock operations, but a lot of cropping only operations that actually use it about a month during the winter for actual machinery reconditioning . Right now, not only are shops expensive, but a new shop next year , 40% of cost has to be depreciated over 20 years. I really think people need a place to get things ready for seasons, but now sure doesn’t seem like time to go out on a limb. I really feel ag will be in for some rougher times as whole lot of things uncertain.
