Northern Nebraska | If you consider a family farm getting loans from meat Packers to build yourself into one of the largest swine owners in the country in return for guaranteed pigs at their plants and Guaranteed prices.
I'm not saying he didn't work hard. He took chances others wouldn't but he definitely isn't self made. Meat Packers made him. He built 20,000 head of sow barns in the same year the rest of his local hog producers were going broke because the packers backed him, a single entity over dealing with small farms. Hardly the Pinnacle of family farming. | |
