Yes longer material helps turn bale as well. I usually rake behind an ih head late in the season and bale. As you now know you'll hate it when they don't work and if it won't do it this time of year you better look at something different or modify. Rack would be bar above the hammers that hold bale up and limit depth hammers can dig into the bale' you should be able to raise and lower it.
