I don’t remember if it was froze for good but that Halloween blizzard was the end of fall field work here.  

I don’t get through Scranton often but winter in the Ames/DSM area all the way over to Omaha is nothing compared to here.   

 Last year (along with most years) I made several trips to DSM in the Dec/Jan/Feb time frame.   The lack of snow and how warm it was down there was unreal vs what we were dealing with up here.  

The cutoff line for the snow and miserably cold last winter was basically around Highway 3.  South of Highway 20 was downright balmy.
