Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning.

It's a very serious problem. The scourge of free EV charging was addressed in recent legislation introduced in the North Carolina House Bill 1049. The bill sought to address the inequities of free fuel for only a few, by mandating free gas pumps be placed at all locations served by free EV charging. In the 2022 session, the bill survived a first reading and was then referred to Commission on Transportation. The bill sought funding of $50K, to destroy the free chargers if the businesses failed to install free gas pumps too.
Here is a pretty good take on the whole debacle: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a40543385/north-carolina-wants-remove-free-public-ev-chargers/
I especially enjoyed the part about the cost of paste going up because too many politicians were eating it and how the problem might be solved if we gave them crayons to eat instead.
