North of London | On the one I am familiar with the 'hooks' clamped on to a metal bracket that was nailed to a board that was nailed to the rafters right at the peak.
With the bracket the track hung below the roof enough to allow bundles to travel freely.
Just me guessing but I think the reason for the hooks and bracket was to allow motion of the whole track as the bundles came up and jumped around.
Even pulling the bundle down the length of track often caused swaying and lots of motion.
As I noted above I think there is still a bracket nailed on the board from the peak of the barn around here. If I can find it I will post a pic. | |
