WC IA | I've been out of the seed business for a while now and have nothing to gain or lose here. From your question, however, I think you might really benefit from hiring a professional agronomic advisor. It might cost you $15-$20/acre depending on what services they perform like scouting, soil testing, application, mapping, planning, advice, etc. Personally, I prefer the guys who aren't also selling seed or other products, so you get unbiased opinions. You may not want to spend that money, but when you think about it in terms of bushels/acre, one-2 bushels of soybeans will cover that cost and any good agronomic advisor is going to get you that. Just my 2 cents. Best to you and your family. It's not easy filling those shoes, but you can do it.
