| Ended up losing about a 2 week old calf with what the vet thought was E-Coli. Was busy with harvest and the cow was a late calver that recipe ended up with her hiding the calf in the pasture and me not finding it for a couple days. Took the calf to the vet who loaded him up with antibiotics and tubed him. Got him on the mend for a couple of days but yesterday he started going backwards and tonight he was gone. Was treating him with several antibiotics, probiotic, banamine. Should I have looked at doing anything else?
What about keeping milk in front of him? Seemed like anything I put in him passed right through. Even cut the milk today completely out and just put him on electrolytes.
Just curious if anyone had alternative treatment strategies? Hated to lose the calf but just a fact of raising livestock. | |
