Mid Michigan | Pat & Dick were hitched to a wagon Dad drove back to the woods which was also a cow pasture. He got off to open the gate and I shouted Gette up and the horses pulled the wagon thru the gate till I shouted whoa and they stopped, about 60 feet. This in 1940 when I was 6. A 1941 Ford 9N replaced the horses.
The team was sold, and I remember Dad driving by the farm to see them in the pasture. This farm was on a main road and years later a fruit market was built. I was in there once and told the owner about our horses being sold to that farm. He said follow me and took me to the office where on the wall was an old picture of a team of horse. One of them was one of our horses but the other was not.
9N story next. Anyone have a horse story? | |
