Have a 2021 F150 91,000 miles V8
Usually run gasoline 87 octane 10% alcohol we have in our bulk tanks we were out so buying it in town “Caseys” in April and May my truck OK E85 not really cheap here but I ran E85 4 tanks — less MPG but was cheaper about the same $/ mile
Went back to 87 octane E10
Truck ran like crap bucked sputtered but about same MPG “19”
Took to Ford dealership plugs shot and they adjusted the computer I think $400
Picked it up service tech says how many tanks of E85 you run I told him 4 he said don’t do that
I’m a corn farmer what gives

Buy a diesel and use Biodiesel. Quality biodiesel will have zero noticeable difference compared to petroleum. You’re still supporting local farmers and don’t have the issues on whether it is “compatible” or not. Just buy from a reputable place. B20 is usually available at a lot of places. Higher or straight b100 can be hard to find.
It’s a shame that more diesels are not available and that biodiesel isn’t promoted by the government. It is a lot cleaner and easier to produce than corn based ethanol. |
