Subject: RE: Reel wrapping update

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
My great nephew and I installed the Deere flip over reel kit on my 635FD this year. The instructions were written by someone who had obviously never done the job.

As far as those "wiper" pieces of plastic, my kit contained 8 so four were used on each end and installed in the correct orientation. In looking at other heads on dealer lots, I noticed some had double sets where longer bolts were needed to double them. The parts catalog calls for a total of 24 per head meaning 6 pairs of doubles on each end. I've seen heads setup that way. Some of the holes for bolts are not used when installing 6 sets on each end.

Another neighbor has a flip over reel kit and it doesn't have any of those wipers. I guess whatever works. Fortunately my conditions have been such that either due to the flip over reel kit or the beans themselves, I have not had wrapping issues this year. I had plenty last year.
