South Central MN | Well when you are able to sell the crop for a much higher price than what anyone else can you can afford to pay sky high rents also.
A standard bushel of corn is 56 lbs., so probably close to what is in a bag of seed give or take, factor in a lower yield than straight grain, but still likely over 100 bu./ac., add the labor, handling, ect. costs, then figure each bag of seed sold is worth ~$150-225, (ballpark figure on what it actually goes for, not list price.) and suddenly the $425 an acre doesn't sound like much. | |
