Near-north Ontario, French River | My 2022 Silverado came with 90 days free onstar, as do most if not all GM products. Me being cheap I just let the free subscription lapse . I also get monthly "my Chevrolet" reports that give me all sorts of info like the oil life %, brake remaining %, tire pressures etc.. ... I guess my point is even though I don't pay for onstar, GM is still communicating with my vehicle, which presumably also includes location data.... FWIW, I'm not concerned at all. Google already tracks my phone, the cell companies can get a fairly accurate location by triangulating towers etc.. Its the connected world we live in. I have Starlink as do the neighbours on either side of me. Two of us have very good service, very few outages, the other neighbour claims to have outages weekly and often times at the same times of day... I went over to her place and its obvious to me at least that its an antenna issue( ie poor aiming)... she honestly believes its the government blocking her service, because as she says " she talks to much , so they watch her" ... I just told her to start saying nicer things and walked away. Sometimes its not worth getting involved LOL |
