This is accurate.
There's also the theory floating around that as we've bred dairy cows for the extreme feminine traits, we've also inadvertently selected the dairy bulls for masculine traits at the same time. Whether this is true or not, it's undeniable that there has been no selection pressure against ornery dairy bulls like there has been with beef bulls. If a beef bull acts out at an early age, he gets eliminated from the breeding pool; no similar selection occurs for dairy bulls in the studs. |
