Probably the best thing is for the gov to pay all of the insurance and pay for all of the repair bills and equipment also as those are getting out of hand. This will certainly make our cheap food get even cheaper and all the worlds hunger problems will be solved!

It doesn't take a psychic to see that data collection of farmland over the past decade to feed the AI algorithms to make agronomic decisions for all of the farmland and eliminate the need for "farmers"

--- trigger warning for statement below, don't hate the messenger---

Give it 10 years and we won't need broadacre crop farmers. A pool of equipment managers can transverse the country side in the most efficient planting, crop protection and harvesting operations dictated by the algorithm, not human constrained concepts.

That concept may seem far fetched but look at how automated broadacre crop farming is today:
Financing -computer modeling
Insurance (aka guarantees)- legislative
Drive tractor - auto steer
Planting - auto steer and GPS maps
Crop protection - drones automated can swarm fields autonomously
Harvesting - autonomous driving, threshing controls, and unmanned grain carts
Semi driving - not farm specific abilities
Seed selection/hybrid selection - AI
Planting date and specific field operations- sensors and weather models
Marketing decisions - algorithm and legislative input
Fixing - human with computer and wrenches

Boil it down and the current farming is structured more as dragging an antiquated system along before moving to higher efficiency models in near future. Why does the government need specialized farmers when it could reduce numbers or non specialize the human work?

I don't want to see that but I am pragmatic in my approach and future casting.
